Anxiety is something we all experience, whether we realize it or not. Sometimes, it’s a fleeting moment of worry, like when we’re running late for work or school, waiting for medical test results, or trying to figure out how to pay an unexpected bill. Other times, it’s something deeper and longer lasting such as, an ongoing battle with uncertainty about the future, the weight of expectations, or the fear that we’re not measuring up.
Anxiety can show up in countless ways. Maybe it’s the restless nights where your mind won’t shut off, replaying conversations or worrying about tomorrow. Maybe it’s the uneasy feeling in your chest when you scroll through social media, seeing others succeed while you feel stuck. Or maybe it’s the deep, nagging sense that no matter how hard you try, something could still go wrong.
We live in a world that constantly feeds our fears. The news cycle thrives on crisis after crisis. Social media pushes us to compare our lives to filtered versions of other people’s reality. We’re told to chase success, financial security, and the perfect image, but even when we achieve those things, they never seem to be enough. And then there are the personal struggles, family tensions, health issues, job instability, and unexpected tragedies that remind us just how little control we actually have.
For some, anxiety is momentary, a stressful day at work, an upcoming test, or a tough conversation with a loved one. For others, it feels like a constant companion, creeping in without warning and staying far longer than it should.
But no matter where you are on that spectrum, God doesn’t want you to be trapped by fear. Over and over, Scripture reminds us to “cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Jesus Himself told us, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself” (Matthew 6:34). These aren’t just nice sounding words, rather, they’re a lifeline.
That’s why we’re starting a new series, “Anxious for Nothing,” where we’ll take an honest look at anxiety from a biblical perspective. We’ll talk about why we worry, how culture fuels our fears, and, most importantly, how God calls us to trust Him instead. This isn’t about ignoring anxiety or pretending it doesn’t exist. It’s about learning how to navigate life’s struggles with faith instead of fear.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll cover:
✅ How to trust God when life feels uncertain
✅ The impact of social media on anxiety and comparison
✅ Fear of the future and how to rest in God’s sovereignty
✅ The role of Christian community in overcoming anxiety
✅ What it means to have true peace in Christ
No matter what kind of anxiety you’re facing, whether it’s momentary stress or a long term battle, you are not alone. God offers something far better than the world’s temporary fixes. He offers a peace that surpasses all understanding.
I hope you’ll join me as we dive into what it truly means to be anxious for nothing. Let’s walk this path together, leaning on God every step of the way.
